Not that long ago, priests were more than just pastors, they had lots of cool side jobs, dabbling into science and such. Maybe there should be a movement to bring back the "Indiana Jones priest."

Swiss Miss - No! No they didn't - being a pastor was supposed to be their first and only job - OH! But you said, "Not that long ago..." Very true - since the late '60's/'70's - yes indeed, priests have had careers and have seen the role of pastor as a sideline - while some never ever get to be a pastor because they already have a job. And oh, oh my! Churches get closed down because of a shortage of priests...
