Apparently, Archbishop Raymond Burke of St. Louis, the darling of conservatives (and vestment makers) all over the USA is going to be tapped to head the Apostolic Signatura. The midwestern prelate already sits on the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura (to use the full name) but it is said he will now be succeeding as the head of that Tribunal (in effect the chief justice of the Church's supreme court) Agostino Cardinal Vallini who, it is widely believed, will be tapped to become the new Vicar General for Rome. So, Burke may be getting a red hat after all...but by going to the Rome of the East instead of staying in the 'Rome of the West'."
