This mega McDonald's bill came to $890
By Katie Little
(CNBC) Spending $10 at McDonald's will buy a fast food feast. Shelling out $890.80? That will get you a "Big Max."
That is how much Moshe Tamssot's bill came to after he tested out the limits of McDonald's new customizable sandwich platform called Create Your Taste. The restaurant adjusted the triple-digit price to merely $24.89 due to what Tamssot said was a pricing bug in the system in a recent YouTube video documenting the meat feat.
The 3.8 pound burger, piled high with dozens of toppings, including multiple types of cheese and condiments, takes the meaning of loaded to a new level.
"That's as big as we could make it without it falling apart," says one employee who brings the monstrosity to Tamssot's table, with the rest of the burger on a side tray. The worker then snaps a photo of the mega burger.
While Tamssot did not have to fork over close to a grand for a burger, the shenanigan could inspire copycats to out-burger him.
"In this test, customers are able to customize their order as they wish," said McDonald's spokeswoman Lisa McComb in an email.
"[S]ome people like to go big or go home when it comes to their burgers," McComb added.
Create Your Taste is now available in about 30 restaurants in California, Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia, Missouri and Pennsylvania. The chain plans to expand the customizable sandwich platform to more locations in the U.S.

Saudis Demand McDonald’s Be Punished For Happy Meal Toy That Insults Muhammed
(The Inquisitr) The people of Saudi Arabia
are furious with the McDonald’s fast food chain for a toy which they
say desecrates the name of Muhammed, the prophet of Islam. They are
demanding retribution.According to the Arabic news website, Kermalkom.com,
“[the McDonald's fast food restaurant] abused the Prophet Muhammad by placing his name at the base of a toy that is being distributed as part of the Happy Meal, a toy which steps on the name ‘Muhammad.’”The toy is a blue super hero on a blue base. The toy looks like a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger samurai warrior. The toy stand on one of its legs and the other leg hangs over the side of the base. When a lever is pressed the toy’s other leg smahes against the base of the toy in a stomping motion.
The Saudis are claiming that the base of the toy, where it stomps its foot, is covered with the name Muhammed. They claim the name is written several times in circles all over the base so every time it stomps it is stomping on Muhammed.
The toy had been distributed for several days and until today no one had noticed the name written on the base of the toy. After its discovery by Saudi Muslim authorities they lunched several campaigns against the restaurant “in response to the savage attacks on the noble prophet”. The campaigns were called “Help your Prophet” and “Together in support of the Prophet.”
In response, “Saudi McDonald’s” has taken the toy out of circulation at all of its restaurants stating it was important, “to safeguard against any accusations or misunderstandings.”

McItaly burger controversial in home country

Agriculture minister derided for defending new McDonald’s sandwich
ROME - (AP) Italy's agriculture minister defended his sponsorship of McDonald's new all-Italian burger Monday amid criticism that he is selling out to a multinational corporation and sacrificing Italy's culinary reputation in the process.Minister Luca Zaia has argued that McDonald's new McItaly burger — using all Italian beef, Asiago cheese and artichoke spread — will pump €3.5 million ($4.8 million) more a month into the pockets of Italian farmers grappling with tough economic times.

But for a country that gave birth to the Slow Food movement a quarter-century ago and prides itself on its varied, delicious and healthy cuisine, Zaia's enthusiastic support of McDonald's has been hard to swallow...

Boycotters protest McDonald’s support for ‘homosexual agenda’
Washington DC, Jul 19, 2008 / 12:18 am (CNA).- Some supporters of traditional marriage are protesting the fast food corporate giant McDonald’s over its decision to join the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and its spokesman’s remarks suggesting those who disapprove of homosexual acts are driven by hatred.
The American Family Association had organized a boycott of McDonald’s for joining the NGLCC, Cybercast News Service reports. The boycott coalition also objects to the corporation’s donation of $20,000 to the chamber and the chamber membership of Richard Ellis, McDonald’s vice president of communications.
The announcement of the boycott prompted McDonald’s spokesman Bill Whitman to say in response “Hatred has no place in our culture. That includes McDonald's, and we stand by and support our people to live and work in a society free of discrimination and harassment.”
The comment was an “insult” according to Matt Barber, director of cultural affairs at the Liberty Counsel, which supports the boycott.
“He insulted tens of millions of Americans who believe that the historical definition of marriage between one man and woman is important and crucial to society. He said that we’re haters and we’re motivated by hate. That, on its face, is a bold-face lie,” he told Cybercast News Service...
