"They need to let younger generations of priests and nuns rise to positions of authority within a
new church. Most especially and most immediately, they need to
elevate women. As a nun said to me this week, if a woman had been sitting beside a bishop transferring a priest with a history of abuse, she would have said: "Hey, wait a minute!" -
Peggy Noonan
This is scary...beyond belief.
ReplyDeleteP. Noonan needs to think about the extension of what she said.
If you look at bishop accountability, there are also Sisters either accused or charged with the abuse of minors.
Not to mention the whole "cross-dressing" issue of women in bishop's/priest's vestments...EUWWW!
(And no, cassocks, albs and chasubles are NOT dresses!:<)!)
Noonan is dead wrong on this. Women are (and were) just a bad enablers of abusers as men. This is like the "if women were in charge, there would be no war" non-sense that is constantly trotted out.
ReplyDeleteThe priests here said it before I could. Noonan is wrong - she get's too much credit for being Catholic.
